Expressions of interest are now been sought for a full-time Vicar of the Parish of Central Hawke’s Bay. The parish was formed in 2015 as part of a re-development of mission and ministry for the communities of Porangahau, Takapau, Waipawa and Waipukurau and their neighbouring districts. After a successful period of two years of intentional transitional ministry led by the Rev’d Alister Hendery, the parish is well-placed to make an appointment of a priest as Vicar.
The Vicar of the Parish of Central Hawke’s Bay will need to be an experienced priest with the ability to lead, educate, and enable ministry for laity and clergy alike and relate to a variety of local rural communities. It will be important for the Vicar to develop the relationships with the ministry teams in each community. It will also be important for the Vicar to continue to develop the identity of the parish in each of the local communities, to develop the profile of the position within the community and encourage confidence from the local communities in the Parish of Central Hawke’s Bay.
The role of the Vicar will include a portion of their time devoted to education for the needs of the local parish and in support of the Diocesan Ministry Educator particularly focused on the needs of rural ministry settings. In recognition of this aspect of the role, part of the stipend is funded from the Diocesan Ministry Education budget.
For a parish profile please email the Bishop’s PA, Belinda Barnhill – . Expressions of interest, including a CV and the names and contact details of three references, should be addressed to Bishop Andrew Hedge, P O Box 227, Napier, 4140, New Zealand or emailed to .
