Kia ora, Malo e lelei, Talofa Lava, Bula Vinaka, Greetings! This month I share with you the story of the AWSC Council’s recent trip to Tonga.   Each year, the Council endeavours to travel to one of the Councillors home territory to help build relationships and understanding across this three tikanga Council.  This year we have been fortunate to travel to Tonga, tikanga Polynesian Councillor Revd Evelini Langi’s homeland.  What transpired was an action-packed five days of visiting various parishes alongside fitting in the actual Council meeting.  I hope that readers gain an understanding of the commitment to parish life and ministry witnessed during our trip – we were truly blessed.

2017 AWSC HUI “Kia Ngawari – Finding a Wholeness”

25 – 27 October 2017 – Get your registrations for the hui in now –

It is with great pleasure and excitement that AWSC accepted the invitation to hold our latest offering in the Treasuring Women in Ministry Provincial Hui series at Te Karaiti Te Pou Herenga Waka Marae in Mangere, Auckland.  For many of our three tikanga sisters, this is a rare opportunity to be invited and stay on a marae.  It is an excellent opportunity to learn about various Anglican mission and outreach programmes that have been developed to meet the needs within this tikanga and share ways in which these can enhance our own mission according to three tikanga context and need.

As the Marae can only cater for 45 overnight you will need to register early if you want to take up this invitation otherwise there is plenty of accommodation options nearby.  The registration form is attached so please complete this and return as soon as possible and encourage your colleagues to register too.

LOOKING FOR STORIES FOR SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER NEWSLETTERS – The standing invitation remains for publishing a story, poem, reflection or article in our newsletter. The AWSC newsletter is also a good method for promoting any books that Anglican women have written or featured in or promote other regional Anglican events and stories that are of interest to Anglican women or honour those in ministry who have passed away.  Back issues of our newsletter are available on our General Synod webpage on
