New Zealand Red Cross is currently recruiting for Refugee Support Volunteers for 3 or 6 month placements with training sessions beginning in July, September and November. Red Cross is also looking for Transport Volunteers who are able to help transport families to their community orientation sessions, usually held Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks. If volunteering isn’t for you, please consider donating or getting a community workshop together to collect items for incoming families: items like blankets, duvets, kitchen appliances, crockery and cutlery all help to make a house a home and is gratefully received. Please note that we do not accept second hand pillows for health reasons. We have in the past had church groups fundraise to purchase brand new pillows for families.
If you are interested in volunteering or donating, please feel free to contact the Dunedin Red Cross service centre for more information at (03) 477 1527 or . Please note, to be a volunteer, you must have access to email and have a good level of English.
