Parish of Waiwhetu: Fulltime Vicar Vacancy – Closes 13 June
St Paul’s Church, Waiwhetu in the Anglican Diocese of Wellington seeks to appoint a fulltime Vicar who can offer enthusiasm, motivation and leadership to a growing parish. The parish is a diverse faith community combining contemporary and traditional patterns of worship. The church actively offers support to those who have expressed interest in Ordination. Our parish community also has close links with the local Marae.
We are a congregation that is spread across the life span and from many levels of the Anglican Faith. The parish has groups for prayer and fellowship who meet on a regular basis. There is active community outreach with playgroups, schools, local nursing homes, hospital and refugee support. The parish has recently seen a growth in young families attending church and former parishioners returning to St Paul’s, and there is a children’s’ Sunday group that is thriving.
At present our biggest challenge is the strengthening of the church to meet earthquake safety standards, and fundraising has been a focus over the last 12 months. The Vestry and Finance Team are working to ensure pledges come in and the project continues to progress.
The church is situated in a suburb of Lower Hutt, Wellington. There is a large Vicarage behind the church with local schools nearby catering for all age groups. There is a good public transport system in the area and Wellington CBD is 20 to 40 minutes away by car, bus or train.
For further information and a copy of the parish profile please contact the Bishop’s EA on . Expressions of interest should be addressed to The Bishop’s EA, Anglican Diocese of Wellington, P O Box 12046, Wellington 6144.
Applications close on Monday 13 June 2016
