An idea that has been gaining traction in the Uk is “Holiday at Home”. It is run during their Summer break time (Our Christmas and January). Where most of the social support groups for the elderly are either scaled back or close down. Parishes or a group of denominations in an area put on events for the elderly during this period, maybe for a week, or for a couple of days. Some of it is just entertainment, service to those in need. Others also include some sections which share the gospel story, or worship services etc. Singing hymns and songs are a frequent part of the events.
Below is a link to the Church Army UK website, with a paper about these events.
