Vacancy: Vicar and Priest-in-Charge, St Andrew’s, Cambridge

Applications are invited for the full-time position of vicar of the parish of St Andrew’s, Cambridge.

The Anglicans built their church on the corner of Victoria Street and Hamilton Road in 1881, and is often described as “The white church on the corner” and have worshipped there now for over 133 years, in the care of 14 Vicars. In 2015 we are seeking the 15th vicar to care for the congregation and community of Cambridge.

There is a Wednesday morning Communion service, and up to 3 Sunday morning services. There are 5 rest-home services during the month, taken by a roster of non-stipendiary priests, and 6 Anglican services a year at Kaipaki Church. St Andrew’s has a patronal festival each year, a pet service on St. Francis’s Day, a Seder supper followed by Stripping the Church on Maundy Thursday, a three hour vigil on Good Friday and an Armistice Day service. On Ash Wednesday, we join with the congregation of St. Peter’s Catholic Church for the imposition of ashes. This service alternates between the two churches.

Cambridge is a fast-growing community, with St Andrew’s at its heart. The parish is seeking a vicar with a view and understanding of the big picture but an appreciation of the detail that makes up the story of the community. The church continues to explore ways of addressing needs in our community, and connecting with other groups to serve these needs. The church is also looking to grow ministry to children, youth and families.

The new vicar at St Andrew’s will be blessed by a welcoming, inclusive church community full of potential to develop the community they love. This enthusiastic parish will welcome a pastoral team-player, prepared to get involved.
